Today I’m performing solo guitar at the Four Seasons Hotel in Vancouver for St Pauls Hospital.
Once again I’m at the Four Seasons hotel and today I’ll be playing in the Seasons Ballroom. I’m not a big fan of this room mostly because of the sound. It’s a room with a low ceiling and all glass at one end. It can be a really loud room.
Fortunately for me this is a relatively small group. So every one should hear me without my volume being too loud. As a background, ambient corporate guitar gig this always the biggest challenge. I really with I could include a sound tech on all these gigs.
The gig was a 6:30pm start and I’m done at 8:30pm. It’s a very short gig for a reception and dinner type of event.
For my setup I used 1 powered monitor for me and a 1 PA speaker at each end of the room.
The gig was good, no real problems except for my worrying about achieving the right volume in the room.
Once again I had a lot of good feedback from the client so that always puts me at ease.
Tomorrow is a teaching day and working on my new guitar school site. Then Saturday it’s back to Willowbrook Mall for another solo performance.
Stay tuned…
