Guitar Slinger – In the pre production studio.

In this post I’d like to take you into my little pre production studio to give you an idea of the process I use to create recorded music.

Before I spend a lot of money in the recording studio to produce a new cd I spend most of my time recording in my home studio!

Join me in my pre production studio as I take you behind the scenes to see what it’s all about.

For this video I’ll be creating a jam track for my “YourGuitarSchool.com” students to practice playing their D major scales.

What is the best toothpaste?

After 47 years of brushing and flossing I’ve finally found the answer!

It’s odd how every dentist I ask has always given me the same answer… “They’re all good!”

What the???

“They all have the same regulated ingredients and I should use the one I like the best”

Next time I’m going to ask… “So what toothpaste do you use?” If I get an answer like. “I use them all” Then I know it’s a dental / pharmaceutical conspiracy.

Anyways, after years of brushing here is my opinion.

Firstly, regardless of what toothpaste you use it’s important that you brush for two minutes allowing the fluoride and the other ingredients to do their job.

It’s also extremely important to floss.

Now here’s my experience so far…

I have found that prolonged use of Colgate has made my teeth sensitive to hot and cold.

Then I’ve used Sensodine and found that it makes my teeth less sensitive but doesn’t make my mouth feel as fresh as I’d like.

I’ve also added mouth wash to my dental diet and found it too after some time would make my teeth sensitive.

So I began brushing with Crest.
Now not all Crest toothpaste’s are the same so now what?

Most Crest toothpaste have been great. I have very good teeth and have had very few cavities. My dad was a Tooth Brushing and Flossing Nazi, as it was very strictly enforced in our home. (I’m very grateful for that) We always used Crest growing up.

So I’ve now used most of the various Crest toothpastes and here’s what I’ve found through my extensive brushing research. (4 to 6 minutes a day for 47 years)

My wife and I both feel the paste is better than the gel.

I also found Crest’s Outblast will again make my teeth sensitive over time. Crest’s Expessions was nice but still lacked the freshness I was after so…

The Toothpaste Winner Is…

*** CREST COMPLETE! ***

No more sensitive teeth, cavities and my mouth feels pretty good.

Now I’m just a guitar player and this post is just my opinion however I would love to here your thoughts and comments.

Would You Buy A Music Cd if You Had to Agree to a Terms and Conditions Agreement?

Cast your vote…

And help me decide whether or not to stay with TopSpin Media

So here is were I’m currently at with my Topspin direct-to-fan experience.

As some of you may know I’ve changed my eCommerce platform from paypal to a TopSpinMedia Store.

First off I have to say that these guys are great, doing everything possible to make my experience here a positive one.

The topspin staff works tirelessly to make their platform the very best!

I love my new website that currently hosts all topspin apps to invite fans into my world and to share and buy my music.

So what’s the problem? … No cd sales or downloads!

(I’ve sold 1 cd in the past 2 months since activating topspin on my site) However I do continue to sell product through the old site. (through paypal buttons on my old store page)

Here’s what I believe to be the problem…

My concern with topspin is that a fan has to agree to a long and detailed terms & conditions form before they can make a cd purchase.

Here’s a picture of the T & C you have to agree to before you can continue with your cd purchase.

I believe for a little indie musician like me this has taken a big bite out of my online cd sales.

I would love to know what you think?
Please cast your vote. Thank you!

Here’s a partial screen shot of the T & C Agreement.
(this is only a partial photo, it’s a very long form)

TOPSPIN UPDATE *************

I wish to thank all of you for your time, votes and all your insightful comments!

I have address my concerns with topspins and they have agreed to remove the manditory T&C agreement check box from my cd purchase flow!

I can’t believe how awesome everyone at TopSpin is. They are listening and continuing to do whatever it takes for us little indie music guys!

I would like to also announce to anyone interested in using TopSpin that the day after the T&C check box was dropped from the purchase flow, I began selling cd’s again.

Beware… A Vancouver Advanced Parking Machine has Gone Wild!

Check your credit card statements everyone!

Here’s a copy of a credit card statement from a visa card that I never use.

This is my emergency only visa card.

I usually don’t open up my visa statements because it’s always been a $0 balance however for some reason I opened this one…

Click here for a closer look!

To my jaw dropping surprise I found that an Advanced Parking parking meter in Vancouver (I think) has been charging me $7 a day, twice every day to park in a lot (I guess) in Vancouver for the past month! (What the…??????)

I have called CIBC to cancel my visa card and they will dispute the transaction on my behalf. Hopefully I will not have to pay this!!!!

CIBC has sent me a new card however I’m afraid to activate it!

Please people, beware and monitor your credit card statements.
