The last few days I’ve been spending my time as a carpenter and not so much being a musician. For the last couple of years we’ve been slowly renovating our home and it looks like we’re finally almost done.
Any ways last Saturday night I took the evening off to join Lyndon, Brent and Andre (percussionist, bassist and guitarist) for an evening of live flamenco at the Kino Cafe.
For those of you unfamiliar with Vancouver, the Kino Cafe is a restaurant at 19th & Cambie that hosts live flamenco five nights a week.
Performing that evening was dancers Srephanie Pedraza and Pat (sorry, but I do not have Pat’s last name). There was also a wonderful singer and flamenco guitarist Juan de Marias. (Who I believe to be one of the best here in Vancouver).
The flamenco here normally begins at 9pm until midnight and sadly the restaurant doesn’t pay the performers all that much for filling the venue night after night. So if you do attend a night of flamenco at the Kino, please drop a few bucks into the hat when it comes around.
Once again, we had a great time here and I highly recommend an evening out here if you’re ever in our beautiful city.
Until the next post…
