What’s up for 2012!

Hey Everyone,

Here is a little update to what’s coming around the corner for me this year…

I’m really excited to be teaming up with a wonderful group of artists this year. Together we want to create events that transport you from your daily routine into the Fabulous World of the Arts. Not just another art exhibit but an experience connecting you to the art, the music and the artist!

I’ll be sending you all more info soon but until then let me introduce you to everyone…
Just click on the artists name to visit their websites. We’ll have a collective website soon.

News for all the J.G. Music Fans…

I currently working on the music for my new cd to be released early this spring!

During the past few years there has been a lot of old classics that I love performing during my live shows.  This spring I am super excited to be releasing a new album with some of those wonderful tunes!

News for all the guitarist…

This year I’ll be performing with the new Boss RC300 loop station and working with Roland Canada performing clinics to show everyone how to perform and rehearse with loops!

The first clinic will be at the new Long & McQuade store on Terminal in Vancouver slated for Thursday, March 15th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

The flamenco guitar I currently perform with uses a LR Baggs Element pickup system. I really like the pickup however, it’s a single under-saddle style and it does not allow you to hear any of the percussion from the top of the guitar.

Last Christmas I was given a wonderful gift from a couple of my students. A Cordoba GK Studio guitar! The guitar is absolutely amazing however, I’m not to crazy about the on-board Fishman Presys pickup system.

So this year LR Baggs has released the new Anthem SL Classical mic and pick up system. This new pickup system blends the element under-saddle pickup with a boundary mic. I’ll be installing the new system soon so I’ll give you all the details and review it as soon as it arrives.

Behind the scenes playing guitar at the new Vancouver Convention Centre.

I’m back to the new Vancouver Convention Centre to play guitar with my trio for Tourism Vancouver.

Today’s line up will be two guitars and percussion with the performance starting at 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Before that I’ll be over at Gabriel Mark Hasselbach’s studio to lay down some zennish guitar loops.

Let me know how you like this latest behind the scenes video. This time I figured out how to speed up the set up and tear down of all my gear!

Playing with me on today’s gig is flamenco, latin jazz guitarist Andre Stepanian and percussionist Lyndon Dewitt.

Today’s video is endorsing the bands obsession with Stride Gum!

The video also showcases my new home made kick pedal. It’s truly awesome!

Here’s the behind the scenes video of the event! Enjoy…

Join me Saturday on the way to Furry Creek to perform for Expert Recruiters…

Behind the scenes playing guitar in Whistler, BC with Zen Soundscapes

Today I’m performing with Gabriel Marc Hasselbach’s Zen Soundscapes at the Squamish L’lwat Cultural Centre in Whistler BC.

I’ll be meeting Gabriel at his office in Burnaby. From there we’ll drive up to Whistler for today’s performance. Our performance will begin as a duo for the reception. Then we’ll move to a balcony upstairs.

For the balcony performance we’ll be joined by Diane Lines on keys and Tony Chamberlist on percussion.

So here is your behind the scenes video of me working as a freelance guitar slinger in beautiful Whistler BC.

Playing guitar at the Capilano Suspension Bridge

Last Saturday evening I played my guitar at the Capilano Suspension Bridge for a group of US senators. This job is so awesome because I get to work with (and for) so many interesting people from all over world.

I’m having more fun now than ever before as I feel I’m finally getting my head and hands around playing this wonderful instrument. I’ve also finally worked out how to get a live nylon string guitar sound I like. That in itself has taken over 10 years to find!

Anyways, back to the gig…

The Capilano Suspension bridge is such a wonderful place to perform. It’s beautiful and peaceful. For this gig I performed with my Rumba Flamenco, Latin Jazz trio.

Here’s a link to the Capilano Suspension Bridge web site if you would like to visit there for yourself… http://www.capbridge.com/

Joining me once again on guitar was Andre Stepanian and on percussion was Lyndon Dewitt.

I arrived at 5:30pm to set up and we began at 7:20ish. The gig lasted until 10:20pm.

Once again I’ve taken my “Gig Cam” with me so you can join me behind the scenes today on the gig.

Music featured in this episode is my trio’s performance of Hotel California by the Eagles.
