Guitar Instructor

John can be hired to instruct a guitar master class or private one on one lessons.

Also, coming soon, online guitar instruction from John Gilliat.

Here’s a couple of testimonials…

So how is everything? This is Chelsea. I took guitar with you a few years back and lived just down the block, and I was Jen’s friend when she lived there. Anyways, after lessons I kept practicing and eventually (after a LONG TIME) improved and I was hired for a new job in December. Well, first of all I auditioned for the new dinner theater in Fort McMurray where I now live and made it! I’m so glad too, I love it. Doesn’t even feel like work most of the time. But for the next show, there are only two female roles and I was given understudy. However we’re playing all live music for the next show (we didn’t have time for the first show to put that all together) and my boss called me one day and asked if I wanted to stay and work everynight as guitarist and create a minor role to work into the show!

Crazy eh? So this is a little thankyou e-mail because you just earned me a steady job for the next three months and now I get to learn how to play all these awsome beatles songs! (Including at the beggining of the show I play Hard days Night, including the solo! and also the last song, Twist and Shout where I’m lead vocals and guitar). But during the last few weeks of rehersal there are so many things my director (who is helping me do all this because I’m still not very good at guitar) says that I am just like “Oh yeah! John taught me to do that in this song” so thankyou!!!!

Hope everything is going well!

“Anyone working with today’s high school guitar students knows the
enthusiasm they bring to the instrument, as well as how many players they’ve
seen via Youtube and the like. To bring a fresh perspective to them might
seem daunting, but John did it for my students. Not only can John dazzle
them with his technique and musicianship, but he can bring the music right
to their level through practicing with them during his workshops. His
approach is personable, and he is able to communicate his ideas through his
exemplary playing as well as his effective Q&A with the students. By the
time he is finished, my students are asking me if we can start a ‘World
Music’ unit next – John’s inspiration is evident.”
