Experience John Gilliat performing live, in concert,
within your own home!
Have your friends and family over for a very special evening of music with John Gilliat.
The house concert is an invitation-only event held in your own home. It is a wonderful collaboration between John Gilliat, the presenter/host, family, friends and supporters.
Invitations are sent out usually 3 or 4 weeks in advance. Fridays and Saturdays are usually the best days to host your event however some house concerts are presented on Sunday afternoons.
Attendance is usually 20 – 50 people, Paid by a suggested donation of $15-$25 per guest. It’s recommended that your guests RVSP and give there donation in advance of the event however a donation/tip jar is made available the evening of the performance.
Merchandise – Your guests can take John’s music with them as cd’s will be made available for your guests to purchase.
Food at the event can be anything from finger food, snacks & coffee to a pot luck dinner.
The performance includes two 40 minute sets of passionately energized fiery Rumba Flamenco guitar with a 20 minute break.
John usually performs most house concerts as a duo with a small sound system.
It’s a very intimate musical event with the audience sitting close and attentive.
Accommodations for John Gilliat would be provided by the presenter/host for out of town performances.
Choosing the location for your house concert… although there are many alternate venues to host your event, the majority of performances take place at your home. If the weather is good a backyard or garden event can be wonderful however have an interior alternative in case the weather will not cooperate. Indoors, a large room such as you living room works great. You most likely will have to do a little furniture arranging and borrow a few chairs so everyone has a comfortable seat. (bar stools can be great for the back row and couches work well against a wall)
A basement can work very well or if you live in an apartment a club house or common area can be great venues!
Planning your house concert is best to pick a couple of possible dates 6 weeks in advance then give me a call to put the wheels in motion. Be careful not to pick a holiday, or a day that local event could interfere with guest schedules. Especially sporting events such as a playoff game.
To book your house concert or if you would like more information go to the contact page and send me an email.
Looking forward to working with you to create a fantastic event!
