A month ago I purchased Ariel Hyatt’s ebook titled “Music Success in Nine Weeks”. I discovered Ariel and her book from a cdbaby do it yourself podcast. Ariel is an online publicist who works a lot with independent artists such as myself.
Unfortunately, for me, being an independent artist / musician these days breaks down to 75% business with the balance playing guitar and creating new music. (And that’s on a good day) So a word of advice for student musicians – work hard on your craft now!
Now back to why I’m blogging about Ariel’s book…
One very important aspect to the independent music business today is the art of social networking. As a matter of fact this is nothing new as networking is the key to most business success stories. It’s all about who you know.
Ariel’s book is a step by step, week to week guide to internet social networking and currently I’m very lacking in that regard.
Secondly, Ariel is challenging all the artists who are working through her book to blog about it. the challenge is to complete the book within the 9 weeks and the best blog wins a 3 month Cyber PR campaign.
Winning would be wonderful however, I’m in this to be accountable and to complete the course. My goal to be social networking savy and to connect with others to open new doors in my musical journey to entertain people around the globe.
